About the Artist:

I've always said...I am happiest on, in, under or around the water...and as one of my favorite artists once said " The worlds finest wilderness lies beneath the waves" R. Wyland.

I was raised in a small town, Creston BC.  But our family had a cabin on Kootenay Lake.  Much of what I do, and how I make it is 100% influenced by the "playground" I had along those shorelines. Pieces of driftwood, cool stones, aquatic critters. I remember I could sit all day just waiting for some amphibian or minnow to appear from under the wharf.  Then, I would of course try to catch it!

Throughout the years I have attended college for graphic design (Okanagan University College Kelowna, 2 years), dabbled in the automotive repair industry, was certified for aquatic replica taxidermist (Canon City, Colorado. Colorado Springs I called home for 4 years), A certified tattooist (Monterey California I called home for 3 years),  airbrushed motorbikes, was a certified framer, and to date, I am still a full time tattooist and artist in Vernon BC. with a shop downtown!

Yes, I know that's a lot!  But I can honestly say, that every one of those subjects, and even the towns, had led me to the technique and methods I use in my sculptures.  Certain applications we utilized in all of those industries, I still use today in one way shape or form. And A lot of the scenery from those areas I lived in, still inspire me daily.

One could say I'm intrigued with the "smallities" in nature...a stone isn't always just a stone, a piece of wood isn't just wood.  It's carries a whole story, I still see these things as fantastical treasures!  Where has it been, how old is it, How did it form..what lived near it?   With my sculptures, I want to utilize the stone or wood in it's natural form, and make the creature on it, as if it has always lived there, as though it was always part of that scenery.  Make it have movement, maybe look precarious, and evoke a sort of wonderment.

WHAT ARE THESE?  HOW AND WHAT??
What are they?

Stone (fossil, mineral, or crystal ,wood, and multi mixture compound sculptures.

*The main body of the creature is either a stone, a fossil, or a crystal.

*The legs fins and head, are all hand sculpted to fit the stone, and compliment and flow with the piece of wood or pedestal rock.  The materials I use is a combination of 3 types of  compounds, that form an incredibly strong bond...much like automotive bondo, and do not shrink.  Often, there is armature, or fasteners also used to secure the creature.

*Hand Painted, with automotive enamels and clear coat.

Some are "Lit", I have wired led lights under openings in the wood, and placed a crystal above it so it is back lit. These are remote control, or have a small toggle.

How do they display?

These are wall mounts, or pedestal mounts, and some can be both.

How do I get one?

I will do 3 art show/venues a year. I will list them prior to the event. I usually have a group of 20-25 on display per show.

OR

When I post new ones, you can inquire and I will gladly discuss the shipping and pricing.  These are NOT mass produced, they are one of a kind and take time, so I do not have "stock" on hand at all times.

You can also send me a "I want to be on a mailing list" email, and as soon as new creatures are made, I can send images and videos to you :)

PRICES: They all vary depending on size, what kind of stone is used and what type of creature it is.

There are currently no available sculptures...Please stay tuned.  You can also email me to request to be on a preview list of new releases!!!
